Today in Class: Students played the Imperialism in Africa game to help them understand Imperialism and the race of European Empires to claim lands abroad in the centuries leading up to World War I.
Homework: Students need to make up missing/incomplete assignments. Many students received another copy of the assignments they need to complete. Alternatively, they may find them on this blog and complete them on a separate sheet of paper. Students should also study 20-30 mintes per day for the unit test. students can use the Read and Respond Age of Exploration, guided class notes, and the map your student colored to show the areas of the world that European countries eplored and colonized.
The grading period ends on Firday, October 7.
Today in Class: Students finished reading and highlighting a Read and Respond piece about the Age of Exploration. Students will write the answers for homework to be turned in tomorrow. Students will have the Age of Exploration Quiz on Tuesday after fall break. The grading period ends of Friday after Fall Break. Over the break, students need to make up any missing work for partial credit. Please consult Parent Vue/StudentVue to determine what assignments are missing. They also need to study for the Age of Exploration Quiz.

Today in Class: Students read about the Age of Exploration and learned how the Crusades and the Italian trade routes across the Mediterranean Sea encouraged the Age of Exploration.
Today in Class: Students mapped territories on a world map where European powers explored and colonized. Students continued group work and make-up work activities.
Homework: Please watch the BrainPop video posted yesterday if you haven't already.
Monday in Class: Today students learned about French and English explorers while taking Guided Notes.

Friday in Class: Today students learned why European explorers looked for a Northwest Passage. They also learned that the French explored the region of North America that is modern day Canada and colonized Quebec.
Homework: Students need to return their updated progress slips.
Today in Class: Today students reviewed previous concepts and Worked on activities to help them learn new concepts related to the Age of Exploration in Europe.
Homework: If your student has not returned the updated progress slip that went home earlier this week, please sign and return with your student tomorrow!
Wednesday in Class: Students continued to take guided notes about the Portuguese and Spanish explorers.

Today students continued to learn about the Age of Exploration in Europe while taking Guided Notes. Links for the powerpoint and the guided notes page are in Monday's post, highlighted in green. I sent home a grade update for each student that also lists any missing assignments. Assignments are directly linked to unit quizzes and tests, so completing homework and classwork is essential to receiving a satisfactory grade in Social Studies. If your student has an assignment to make up and you are having trouble locating it in this blog site, please e-mail me and I will send it to you. The progress update must be signed and returned tomorrow.
